LED Therapy
LED light therapy is used to promote wound healing, treat acne and stimulate collagen development and angiogenesis (growth of new blood vessels). The treatment is painless, calming, and completely non-invasive.
LED treatments produce an array of bright light-emitting diodes that transmit low-level light energy into the deeper layers of the skin. LED therapy can be used alone, or combined with other aggressive therapies to help promote additional collagen stimulation, while also reducing redness and increasing the rate of healing.
Red light in LED therapy promotes the process of “turning on” cellular activity, including the fibroblasts that produce collagen. Blue light LED targets the bacteria Propionibacterium acnes, and helps to resolve moderate to severe acne breakouts faster.
A majority of clients will require a series of treatments ranging from one to three weeks apart, depending on whether therapies are combined or used alone. Usually, six treatments are recommended, followed by a maintenance treatment every month or two.
PA Sophia Michelle uses LED therapy for acne, and recommends that her clients call for an immediate appointment as soon as they notice a breakout. Patients with chronic acne should have a maintenance session once to twice a month to keep breakouts at bay. LED is one of the three therapies within the SaltFacial System, and is often used as an additional therapy in our Microneedling-PRP Series.
*LED does not treat brown spots, or telangiectasia (spider veins).
